Timber construction reaches Mexico
For Aventa Windows, a manufacturer of high-quality windows, LIGNA systems built a new production hall in San Miguel de Allende. It is the first project LIGNA systems has delivered to Mexico.
In an industrial park where the neighbouring halls are built conventionally in steel and concrete, the glulam structure makes a visible statement: industrial construction is also possible with a renewable material.
In 13 containers across the Atlantic
The entire structure was produced as a prefabricated kit at the St. Vith plant and travelled to Mexico in 13 sea containers. It was delivered to site; the customer handled customs clearance locally.
Every component is prefabricated to the millimetre in the workshop. On site, the parts are simply assembled and connected, with no rework on the timber.
Opening 2026
In May 2026 the hall was officially opened and went into operation. Sarah Dupuis from the LIGNA systems management was there in person, together with Aventa Windows and the project partners.
