Timber Manufacturing Service · Cadwork in, timber out
Your design.Our fabrication.
Send us your Cadwork model. We check that every member can be cut, come back with a firm quote and ship numbered glulam members to your site in Canada or the United States.
Confidential, NDA on request · Large files welcome, a transfer link works too
How it works
Four steps, and no surprises
You send your Cadwork model
Your file, straight out of Cadwork. No export, no re-modelling. A transfer link is fine for large models.
You get a quote
We check that every member can be cut on our machines, and we come back with a firm quote.
You release the model
It comes back to you with our production data in it. Nothing is cut before you release it.
We fabricate, pack and ship
Numbered members, packed in the sequence you will erect them in, delivered to your site in Canada or the United States.
The short version
We supply the timber. The rest stays yours.
Your engineering, your connections and your erection stay with you. For most timber framers that is the whole point: you keep the work you sell, and you get fabrication capacity you do not have to own.
Need something outside this? Ask. Our sales engineers will tell you what is possible on a given project.
We never change your structural concept.
Our review answers one question: can our plant cut this?
The detail
For the people who want the specifics
Everything below is detail. If you just want a price, send the model.
We deliver
- GL28h glulam members, cut and finished
- CNC fabrication to your model geometry
- Member numbering and production marks
- Packing in your erection sequence
- Transport to your site in Canada or the US
Stays yours
- Structural design and analysis
- Connection design and connection hardware
- Steel plates, brackets, fasteners
- Erection and site logistics
- Permits, code compliance, the client relationship
Your engineer signs the structure, so your engineer decides the connections. We do not want that decision, and you would not want us to have it.
LIGNA systems reviews your model for manufacturability only. Responsibility for the structural design, the connections and the erection remains with your company.
Material and limits
What the plant can cut
| Material | European spruce glulam, GL28h |
|---|---|
| Grade equivalence | Equivalence to North American 24f layups is confirmed project by project by our engineering team. |
| Certification | ANSI-certified glulam available as an option, through our binderholz partnership. |
| Cross-sections | Standard European sections as the default. Imperial sections on request. |
| Maximum length | 39 ft (12.0 m) per member. Longer members are delivered in segments; the splice detail is part of your design. |
| Maximum depth | 48 3/4 in (1,240 mm) per member. |
| Lead time | Typically 8 to 12 weeks from your production release, subject to the confirmed production slot. |
Cross-sections, quantities and the delivery date are confirmed with the written quotation. Outside these limits, ask us.
Material partnership
Where the glulam comes from
LIGNA systems is not a glulam producer. The laminated stock comes from binderholz, one of the world’s leading glulam producers, and is fabricated into your members in our own plant.
EPD documentation and chain-of-custody records for the supplied glulam are available on request.
The binderholz partnership is what makes ANSI-certified glulam available and dependable for North American projects , not a one-off order.
Three routes
Which route is yours?
This page is for the one where the structure already exists as a Cadwork model.
You have
A building program, no structure yet
We engineer the structure, fabricate it and supervise erection.
Industrial & Commercial BuildingsYou have
A finished steel model
We show which members work in timber and deliver them, including the connection engineering.
Timber ConversionYou are here
A finished timber structure in Cadwork
We fabricate the members, pack them and ship them.

The short answers
Who is responsible for the structural design?
Your company. LIGNA systems reviews your model for manufacturability only. Responsibility for the structural design, the connections and the erection remains with you.
Does LIGNA systems change my structure?
No. We add production data to the model and we tell you if something cannot be cut. Spans, geometry and the load path are untouched.
Do I get connection hardware and steel plates?
No. We supply timber only. Steel plates, brackets and fasteners are specified and procured by you, because your engineer designs the connections. If you need something beyond timber on a given project, ask us.
How long and how deep can a member be?
Up to 39 ft (12.0 m) long and 48 3/4 in (1,240 mm) deep, per member. Longer members are delivered in segments; the splice detail is part of your design.
How long does it take, and when does the clock start?
Typically 8 to 12 weeks from your production release, subject to the confirmed production slot. The clock starts when you release the model, not when you first contact us.
Which file do you need?
Your Cadwork model. Both sides work in the same software, so there is no export and no re-modelling. A transfer link is fine for large files.
